CONSOLIDATED COMPANIES, INC. (CONSOLIDATED), the parent company of CONCO FOOD SERVICE and CONCO FOOD DISTRIBUTORS (CONCO), began its long history of distribution at the turn of the century in Plaquemine, Louisiana. The Company originated as a wholesale supplier to grocery stores and transported products to its customers in stern paddle wheelers on the Mississippi River and along the bayous of Louisiana.
The V.J. Kurzweg family founded CONSOLIDATED, and today’s organization is still owned and operated by the third generation members of the Kurzweg, Chadwick and Roy families. CONCO became a separate distinct entity of the Company during the 1950's. In its early history, CONCO provided only non-perishable food items to its restaurant and institutional customers.
As time passed and dining out became a way of life in America, the Food Service Division grew to become the largest sector of the Company and pushed CONCO into the top ten institutional food service companies in the country.
CONCO has two separate divisions: the Institutional Division and the Retail Division. The Institutional Division services restaurants, hotels, casinos and hospitals. Those branches are located in New Orleans (Harahan) and Shreveport. The Retail Division services convenience stores throughout the southern United States. That branch is located in Lafayette.
Each CONCO warehouse is outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, dry, refrigerated and frozen storage areas to ensure the freshness of its' products. CONCO’S fleet of modern three-compartment trucks services the southern part of the United States with quality food service items.
CONCO employs professionals in every area to meet our customer's needs. Registered dietitians, data processing analysts, transportation and operations engineers, account executives, purchasing managers, and trained sales people are but a few of the individuals from CONCO FOOD SERVICE who provide the extra attention that each customer deserves.
Today, CONCO FOOD SERVICE has become a mass marketer of all the food products and supplies necessary for the restaurateur, institutional feeder, caterer, retail deli and bakery, healthcare operations, and all other segments of the food service business. CONCO offers its' customers a complete line of non-perishable, refrigerated, fresh, and frozen items. As the awareness of the consumer has evolved concerning the nutritional importance and palatability of fresh foods, CONCO has brought on board specialists in these segments to ensure that the customer receives the finest quality products available.
